This competition will consist of 3 rounds:
ROUND 1: GROUP DISCUSSION
Time Limit: 7 minutes per group
Topic: to be disclosed on-the-spot
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- The participants who are selected from the GD Round will proceed to the next round.
ROUND 2: TEAM TURNCOAT
Time Limit: 4 minutes per team
Topic: to be disclosed on-the-spot
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- Those participants who clear the GD Round will participate in this round.
- Participants will be divided into teams of two, and each team will have 20 minutes to prepare their content on the given topic.
- Participants will only have 15 minutes to access the internet during their preparation time.
- Participant A of the team will first speak “for” the motion for 1 minute, followed by Participant B “against” the motion for 1 minute. Following this, the participants will switch stances, with Participant A speaking “against” the motion for 1 minute and Participant B speaking “for” the motion for 1 minute.
- Both participants in a team will be evaluated together and awarded shared marks.
- Marks will be deducted for exceeding the given time limit.
- The teams which are selected from the Team Turncoat Round will proceed to the final round
ROUND 3: DEBATE
Time Limit: 3 minutes per participant
Topic: “Capital Punishment for Rapists”
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- This round consists of individual participation. The participants who clear the Team Turncoat Round will participate in this round.
- Each participant will be assigned their stance “for” or “against” the motion on-the-spot.
- Marks will be deducted for exceeding the given time limit.
- Each debate will be followed by interjection. Each participant will be posed two questions: one from the judges, one from another participant.
